I’d like to introduce you all to Rob Floyd, President of RxLiquidChef (rxliquidchef.com). Rob is an amazing mixologist and has come up with a couple of great drinks for us for this 4th of July. One with alcohol and another nonalcoholic.

The Firecracker

1 muddled jalapeño
add 5 fresh raspberries
1 1/2 oz. Vodka
3/4 oz. lemon juice
3/4 oz. simple syrup
1/2 oz. St. Germaine
Shake in a tin with ice
Strain into martini glass that is half covered in sugar
The spice and the hint of sweetness make this lots of fun. You can have the sugar or not with each sip. It also gives it a great patriotic look.

(non alcoholic)

2-3 slices of ginger & 3 strawberries – all muddled together.
1 oz. fresh lime juice
3/4 oz. honey or agave syrup
shake with ice
strain over fresh ice
top with NA ginger beer
Garnish with fresh blueberries (I put a little blossom on the tail to give it another shade of blue)

Raspberry, Blueberry and Marshmallow Flag

38 Raspberries
31 small marshmallows
20 blueberries
12 wooden skewers
Have a flat surface or a large plate to begin creating your flag. Start by skewering one raspberry then marshmallow repeat and then top with 4 blueberries. Repeat this for four more skewers or a total of five skewers. Try to line up the fruit on each skewer so when placed side by side, the fruit forms a line. These skewers will create the left side of the “flag”.
For the next seven skewers. Skewer a raspberry then a marshmallow, repeat ending with a raspberry on top and to total 4 raspberries and 3 marshmallows per skewer. Repeat for the remaining six skewers or a total of seven skewers.
When you are finished, you will have 12 skewers and hopefully something that looks like the American Flag.

Marshmallow Bald Eagles

1/4 cup white chocolate chips
6 large marshmallows
Finely shredded coconut
Chocolate sandwich cookie – such as Oreo
6 cashews
Black decorator’s gel
Melt chocolate chips according to the package directions.
For each bird, drop a large marshmallow into the melted chocolate, using a spatula, coat it well.  Remove the marshmallow from the chocolate and roll it in the coconut, leaving one end uncovered.
Immediately set the marshmallow, coconut free end down, atop chocolate cookie.
Let the chocolate set a bit, then use a toothpick to make a hole in the side of the marshmallow and insert a cashew for the beak.
Finally, add black decorator’s gel eyes.

Watermelon  with  Goat Cheese Mousse

Serves 6-8
4 oz of plain goat-cheese (softened)
½ cup of heavy whipping cream (whipped)
6-8 pieces of watermelon cut into desired shape
Basil or Mint sprigs for garnish
Combine the softened goat cheese with the whipped cream. Gently fold together.
Place mixture into a zip top plastic bag and make a small cut in one of the bottom corners.
Place watermelon slices on plate and pipe desired amount of goat-cheese mousse on top.
Garnish with basil or mint sprigs.
Serve within an hour.
Have a Safe and Happy 4th of July!!
