Celebrating Small Business Saturday: Spotlight on Local Treasures

Discover the story
Shop small, uplift your community!

Small Business Saturday is more than a shopping day. It is about connection and celebrating the creativity, resilience, and heart of local retailers who bring unique products and experiences to our communities.

Why We Love Small Businesses: WOT we love most is that each of these retailers is a small business rooted in its community. When you support them, you are:

  • Investing in local communities

  • Discovering one-of-a-kind items

  • Celebrating the creativity, commitment, and passion of entrepreneurs

This Small Business Saturday, consider making your shopping list intentional. Whether you are picking up a journal at SugarBoo in Austin, browsing apparel in Marfa, finding finishing touches in Rochester, or uncovering nostalgic gifts in Nashville, you are not just buying products. You are supporting dreams, stories, and communities that thrive because you choose to shop small.

This year, we are spotlighting four standout businesses that embody wellness, artistry, and thoughtful living. Keep scrolling to check them out!

SugarBoo & Co. (Austin, TX)

SugarBoo & Co. is a destination for self-care and gifting. Their shelves brim with:

  • Self-care essentials that encourage rest and renewal

  • Home and office items that blend charm with practicality

  • Gift options across all price ranges, from small tokens to statement pieces

SugarBoo & Co.’s commitment to community was on full display at the Women of Today Wellness Event on October 25, 2025, where they joined us in supporting empowerment and wellness. Shopping here means investing in joy, creativity, and connection.

You can find SugarBoo & Co. in several locations, including Austin, Southlake, Atlanta, Orlando, and Boca Raton.

Parkleigh (Rochester, NY)

A cherished local retailer since 1960, Parkleigh began as a pharmacy and in 1986 evolved into a specialty shop that has become a Rochester institution. Inside, you will find a thoughtful mix of:

  • Books

  • Jewelry

  • Fashion accessories

  • Home accessories, bath, and more

Parkleigh is the kind of store where you always discover something special, whether it is a meaningful gift or a piece that elevates everyday living. Their longevity speaks to the power of small businesses in shaping a community’s identity.

Parkleigh is also known for hosting community events and collaborating with local artisans, which deepens their connection to Rochester residents. Each visit feels fresh and inspiring, making Parkleigh a beloved stop for both locals and visitors.

White’s Mercantile (Nashville, TN)

Called a “general store for modern-day tastemakers,” White’s Mercantile is a Nashville favorite. With nostalgic finds and unique gifts, this shop blends old-fashioned charm with a modern eye. It is the perfect place to discover treasures that spark joy and memories, making it a go-to for holiday shopping and beyond.

Holly Williams opened White’s Mercantile in 2013 to fill a shopping void in Nashville and to save an iconic old gas station. Today, White’s offers great gifts for her, him, kids, and pets, along with beautiful kitchen items for the cook in your life. Some pieces feel whimsical, some nostalgic, but all are special. We also love that they are pet friendly, so you can bring the whole family when you visit.

We have visited the Nashville locations, but White’s Mercantile also has shops in Franklin, TN, and Wilson, AR.
