Camila’s Favorite Place To Shop Antiques

Ok … Guys, if you know me you know I LOVE … LOVE … antique shopping. I always try to find amazing antique shops everywhere I go! But one of my favorites is just down the road from me in Austin and it’s called ROUND TOP ANTIQUES.

Twice a year, the whole town turns into antique haven for Round Top Antique Week! The first time I went it was with our dear friends Liz Lambert and Bobby Jones, and they knew all the ins and outs of the show what vendors to go to, and on what dates. I somehow convinced my husband to go with us, and the whole thing was amazing!! We ended up having a whole truck load of stuff!!!

Now ever since that first visit, I have gone back multiple times and the experience just haven’t been the same … Don’t get me wrong, I still have a lot of fun — But I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong until this year came along!!!

It all started when I got a text from a friend saying: “Hey going to Warrenton Trade days (pre-marberger) want to know if you want to come!” Now, I got that text in the middle of a crazy work week and kids’ schedule, and I wasn’t feeling well, so I didn’t get a chance to respond. That text came on Sunday, and to be honest I completely forgot about it.

Then one morning I woke up early and while lying in bed,  somehow the “antique Gods” called upon me … and suddenly my mind went… ‘wait … is this the day that my friend told me she’s going to the antique show??’ I immediately went back on the text and BOOMMM! It was!!!! I was still not feeling well, and had a full day of things planned, as I looked at my schedule I tried thinking of all the ways I could possibly make my commitments happen over the phone, and switch a few things around to make it to one of my favorite things on earth!

Let’s just say I quickly came up with solutions … I started second guessing going as I didn’t know how well I was going to feel, but I told myself, ‘well Camila, if you have to make extra stops and run to the bathroom few times, it will not be the worst thing … let’s do it!!!!’ I wrote my friend and within 30 minutes I was ready to go, and out the door!!

I usually drive my big truck, but my friend drove this time so I could be on the phone the whole time taking care of business I had previously scheduled — Plus I didn’t think I was going to buy that many things anyways! BOY WAS I WRONG!!  Turns out my friend knew exactly when to go … she killed it!! We went the day that all of the vendors were still setting up outside the Marberger show so we were getting first pick at so many thigs!! The streets were empty, and we were able to negotiate amazing deals!!

I am in the middle of remodeling one of our homes, so I can’t even tell you all the amazing things I found from doors, to windows, to planters sink and furniture!! So it turns out a lot of the vendors that are part of the big show go to the Marberger show early like we did purchase the items and then resell them at a more expensive price … So to my friend,  I am forever grateful as now I will always know when to go to the show!!!

Below is some of the items coming home with me — Those big wood pieces above are going to be made into planters at my house!  I didn’t include all of them because it would have been too many images!! I definitely have a whole truck  ❤❤
