Homemade Christmas Stovetop Potpourri

Because who doesn't love the smell of the holidays in their home?!

Today we bring you this incredibly easy hack to making your home smell delicious and just like the holidays! This Homemade Christmas Stovetop Potpourri mix can simmer on your stove all day long, and can even be reheated the next day to keep the delicious scent going. Just be sure to add more water every time you reheat it.

You can also make this scent your own, or just use what you happen to have on hand! Other ingredients you can try adding are rosemary, ginger, star anise, fresh pine, or vanilla. Play with the recipe until you find your signature holiday scent!

Christmas Stovetop Potpourri

Ingredients

  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tbsp. whole cloves
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1/2 cup cranberries
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • water

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a medium-sized sauce pot. Fill the pot with water until it reaches 3/4 the way full. Place the pot on the stove and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer, adding more water as needed.
  • Simmer for 1-4 hours, and then let it cool overnight. Simmer again the next day; just be sure to keep adding more water every time you reheat it.
