Homemade Pizza Dough

Making your own pizza dough is easier than you might think!

Today, we’re bringing you our easy Homemade Pizza Dough! This recipe is perfect for creating a delicious, customizable pizza right at home—and it’s way less expensive than ordering out! With just a few simple ingredients (and a little patience), you’ll have a dough perfect for any topping combination. Our Easy Weeknight Pizza is a go-to recipe for us!

There’s something uniquely satisfying about making pizza dough from scratch. The process of mixing, kneading, and watching the dough rise is both therapeutic and rewarding. And we think it elevates the pizza’s flavor!

Homemade Pizza Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 packet of instant yeast such as Rapid Rise
  • 2-2¼ cups all-purpose 
  • tsp  turbinado sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, and extra for bowl drizzle 
  • ¾ cup warm water up to 110 degrees

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, add the packet of instant yeast, 1 cup of flour, sugar, and salt, then the extra virgin olive oil and warm water. Using a spatula, stir well to combine the ingredients.
  • Gradually add another 1 cup of flour. The dough should begin to pull away from the sides of the bowl and form a soft, slightly sticky ball. 
  • If the dough is too sticky, add the additional flour to form a soft dough ball. More flour might be needed. Use your judgment until you have a nice dough ball that is slightly sticky. 
  • In another large bowl, drizzle about one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Place the pizza dough in the bowl and flip to coat both sides with olive oil. Form a ball and cover with plastic wrap. 
  • Let the dough rise at room temperature for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size. 
  • After the dough has risen, it can be baked or frozen at this point.
