It's back to school time already!
As the summer days start to wind down, the excitement and anticipation of a new school year is building up, and it can be a time of mixed emotions for both parents and children. Let’s be honest, the sudden change from slower and less structured days to stricter routines can be a tough transition!
We’re sharing four tips that we have found helpful to make back-to-school a breeze:
Re-establish Routines: During the summer break, routines probably became more relaxed, with later bedtimes and leisurely mornings. As the school year approaches, it’s important to gradually ease back into a more structured schedule. Start adjusting bedtimes and wake-up times a week or two before school starts. This will help ensure that both you and your children are well-rested.
Organize School Supplies: Involve your kids in selecting their backpacks, stationery, notebooks, and any other necessary items. Picking out their own supplies can help boost their excitement and motivation for the new school year. Additionally, create a designated area at home for homework and school-related activities to promote a focused learning environment.
Encourage Reading + Learning Activities: Before school starts, try to take time each day to read or do some learning activities with your kids to help them back into the learning mind frame.
Discuss Goals and Expectations: We love the idea of discussing about goals for the coming, and talking through any challenges they may experience.
Bonus Tip: Before school starts, spend some time with you child discussing different healthy foods and recipes that they would like for breakfast and lunch during the school week. Involving your child in discussions about healthy foods and recipes can have several positive effects on their eating habits and overall well-being.
