Cinco de Mayo Non-Alcoholic Margarita

Not every margarita has to contain tequila!

This low-calorie margarita recipe has great flavor, and since it’s non-alcoholic, it’s a refreshing option for kids or guests who prefer non-alcoholic drinks. If you like, it can easily be made into a traditional margarita by adding a shot of your favorite tequila.

Cinco de Mayo Non-Alcoholic Margaritas

Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

Salt Lime rimming Mixture
  • 4-6 margarita glasses
  • 2 tbsp. coarse salt
  • 1 large lime, zested
Margarita
  • 6 oz. can of frozen limeade
  • 3/4 cup fresh orange juice (2 large navel oranges will yield this amount)
  • 2/3 cup fresh grapefruit juice (1 large grapefruit will yield this amount?
  • ice cubes, a couple of trays
  • orange or lime slices for garnish

Instructions

Salt Lime rimming Mixture
  • Blend the salt and lime zest and place on a small plate.
  • Cut the zested lime into wedges, and use one of the wedges to rub the rim of the glass. Rotate the wet rim in the salt and lime mixture, and set aside.
Margarita
  • In a blender, combine limeade, orange juice, and grapefruit juice. Blend on high to puree any of the remaining pulp.
  • While the blender is running, add ice cubes, a few at a time, and cover quickly to avoid splashing. Continue blending until you get the desired consistency.
  • For a thicker margarita, add more ice cubes. For a thinner margarita, add fewer ice cubes.
  • Pour into your rimmed glasses and garnish with a slice of lime.
  • *Optional– serve with a shot of your favorite tequila, and your guests can pour it over their drink
