Discover the story
Get the freshest, sweetest fruit possible every time you shop!

Summer is right around the corner, and if you are anything like us, you are excited for all the seasonal summer fruit! However, knowing exactly what to look for when trying to pick the perfect fruit can be a bit confusing. So today we’re sharing some tips on what to look for so that you get the freshest, sweetest fruit possible.

First and foremost, we suggest always trying to shop for produce that is in season – Those fruits will have the best taste and be the freshest!

There are a few general rules of thumb when shopping for fruit – Look for smooth, blemish-free skin a sweet smell, and most of the time, fruit that is heavier indicates juiciness and ripeness.

Keep scrolling for more information on how to pick the perfect peaches, berries, and watermelon!

How to pick the perfect peaches:

Avoid any peaches with bruising, soft spots, or dents. Look for fruit with a deep orange or yellow hue, with no signs of white or green.

Peaches should be firm but give slightly when pressed.

A ripe peach smells delicious. If it doesn’t smell great, it will lack flavor.

How to pick the perfect strawberries:

Look for strawberries that are full and red—any white or light green means they were picked too early.

A shiny berry is a fresh berry.

Ripe strawberries will smell sweet and very fragrant.

Always inspect the berries for mold; one moldy berry can quickly ruin others.

How to pick the perfect berries:

Look for a deep, uniform color—red for raspberries and black for blackberries.

They should have full drupelets and be plump, dry, and firm.

The berries should smell subtly sweet and fragrant, with no moldy odors.

Check the underside of the container to ensure it isn’t stained with the juice of crushed berries.

Camila shows us how to pick the perfect watermelon:

Check the weight of the watermelon – the heavier it is, the sweeter it will be.

Look for consistent stripes on your watermelon.

Tap your watermelon and make sure it has a hallow sound.

Look for the ‘field mark’ of the watermelon – the darker the field marking the riper it is.

Hope this helps!
