Kick the bad carbs, but keep the flavor!
Carbs tend to get a bad rap—but not all carbs are created equal! The key is knowing which ones to skip and which ones your body actually needs.
So WOT’s the deal with carbs? There are two main types of carbohydrates: simple and complex.
Simple carbs are the ones we want to cut back on. Think white bread, sugary cereals, candy, soda, and processed snacks. They spike your blood sugar fast, give you a quick burst of energy, and then leave you crashing (hello, 3 p.m. slump).
Complex carbs are the ones you want to incorporate into your diet. You’ll find them in foods like whole grains, oats, beans, sweet potatoes, and veggies. They digest more slowly, keep you full longer, and give your body steady energy—no crash involved.
