This Plum Bourbon Margarita from @brookebonarrigo is the PERFECT Fall cocktail! If you’re looking for something sweet and spicy and cozy to sip on, this drink checks all the boxes.

We’ve never had a bourbon margarita before, and we loved it. It’s incredible how versatile bourbon is (to our surprise) and this recipe is an example of that!

When we use bourbon, we always like to reach for Longbranch Bourbon, but you can use whatever you have on hand. 

Plum Bourbon Margarita


  • 1 red plum
  • 2 oz. bourbon
  • ¾ oz . lime juice
  • 1 oz. triple sec
  • ¾ oz. honey


  • First, add a pile of kosher salt to a small plate and coat the rim of your cocktail glass with honey. I love to use hot (spicy) honey for a little kick of heat (it’s not overly spicy), it’s just a flavorful heat.
    The most important (and prettiest) part of this cocktail is the honey salt rim! It adds a sweet and salty addition to enhance the flavors of the plums and bourbon.
  • Then, lightly dip your honey rim into the salt until completely covered. Set your glass to the side.
  • In a cocktail shaker, add the plums, lime juice, bourbon, and triple sec. Muddle the plums until they’re well broken down.
  • Then, add the honey and crushed ice. Shake for 8-10 seconds before straining into your honey rim glass full of ice.
  • Garnish with a plum slice and enjoy! This cocktail recipe is a great way to enjoy a little fall flavor while still waiting for the fall weather to make its appearance!
